IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM RIO MASSAGE AND WELLNESS

Greetings,

We hope this finds you and your family in good health. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety and health.

​

 By its very nature, therapeutic massage requires skin-to-skin contact and you should know that infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. As we navigate life with additional requirements and modify existing measures due to the COVID-19, please help us to support all of our clients by cooperating with our new requirements.

​

Rio Massage & Wellness follows Practice Guidelines recommended by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB), along with infection control recommendations made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We have made these changes to help protect all clients and therapists as well. For example:

• Your therapist will communicate with you beforehand to obtain updates to your health information and ask you specifically about your potential exposure to COVID-19.

 

• Please arrive at the office no sooner than 10 minutes before scheduled appointment. After the massage session, the massage space will need to be cleared within 15 minutes to allow therapists adequate time for cleaning and ventilation of office in between sessions.

 

• Your therapist will greet you at the door and use a no touch thermal temperature screening to confirm that you do not have a fever.

 

• Please bring a face mask to use while you are in the building and receiving a massage. If you do not have one, we will provide you with one.

 

• Your therapist will ask you if you have developed any symptoms of illness since we spoke on the phone. If you feel ill on the day of your session, there is no penalty for canceling your appointment. Massage is not advised if you have any symptoms of illness.

 

• Your therapist will ask you to sign an informed consent form that states, “I understand that close contact with people increases the risk of infection from COVID-19. By signing this form, I acknowledge that I am aware of the risks involved and give consent to receive massage from this practitioner.”

 

• There is a hand-hygiene station that your therapist will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find hand sanitizer in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

Rio Massage and Wellness is dedicated to helping our community better their health and wellbeing. Rose Adams and Alisha Witcomb are committed to offering a safe and healing space for individuals in our community to receive therapuetic massage. We customize our massage sessions to meet each individual's need.

 

Combined we have over 40 years of professional massage experience, with 20 of those years working in a medical setting. We have experience working with clients who have very specific medical issues, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, pre and post surgical, orthopedic issues, depression, palliative care, and much more.

 

Stress and anxiety in our lives can  keep us from reaching our potential. Regular massage therapy and a daily awareness to love and nurture ourselves can help us create more balance and joy. Through our work in and out of the hospital setting, we have learned the importance of mindfulness and compassion (and self-compassion). We look forward to reaching out to all of our community and offering a massage therapy session which will be uniquely yours.
